- Voice Over and On screen text - they are used to explain the narrative of the film
- Music and sound - scary music used to scare the audience, screams and jumps also used to scare.
- Ediiting and Camera shots - Usually starts of with a long shot to introduce. Fast paced small cuts are used during scary/violent bits to scare the audience and so they are confused about what is going on. Black out are used to create suspence.
- Setting and colour- The weather and setting is usually dark or gloomy or raining. usually in an isolated setting to add danger. Dark colours used and the antagonist wears black to represent death.
- Sting- as sting is used right at the end of the trailer after the title and is usually the scariest part of the trailer as the audience aren't prepared for it.
- USP-Unique selling point makes it stand out. e.g. paranormal activity trailer shows audiences reactions.
